Focus and Scope

The Iranian Journal of Burns and Wound Research is a semi-annual journal concerned with all aspects of preventing and treating the effects of burns and wounds. This journal focuses on the scientific, clinical, and social aspects of burn injuries and regenerative medicine and covers the prevention of these injuries, the epidemiology of these injuries, and all aspects of injury treatment, especially the development of new techniques and technologies. Also, this journal focuses on the occurrence and treatment of wounds, ulcers, and pressure sores, including patient care, pain, nutrition, wound healing, research, prevention, mobility, social problems, and management.

Peer Review Process

IJBWR uses a double-blind peer review system, where a scientific Editor conducts the initial assessment of all submissions to ensure alignment with the Journal's guidelines and scope. Subsequently, reviewers assess submissions deemed suitable by the editors within a three-week timeframe, following specific research reporting guidelines. Authors are required to submit revised manuscripts within two weeks. The identities of both reviewers and authors are kept confidential, and the existence of a submitted manuscript is disclosed only to the reviewers and editorial staff. While authors may suggest potential qualified reviewers, the acceptance of such recommendations is at the editor's discretion. The final decision of the Editors is communicated to the author(s).

 

Publication Frequency

The Journal frequency is quarterly include Jan-March, April-June, July-Sept, and Oct-Dec.

 

Open Access Policy

The Iranian Journal of Burns and Wound Research provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Editorial Independence

The handling Editor decides on each manuscript, and we are committed to maintaining editorial decisions without any influence from personal, political, or financial interests.
The official partners of IJBWR operate independently, offering educational, health, and medical services to the public. They do not get involved in reviewing, choosing, or editing specific articles, either directly or by creating an environment that strongly affects editorial decisions

 

Ethical considerations

This journal follows the rules given by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and also adheres to the guidelines provided by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for how scholarly work in medical journals should be conducted, reported, edited, and published.

According to the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), every author needs to meet certain criteria:

  1. Each author should have played a significant role in the work, contributing to its conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation.
  2. Authors must agree to the version that will be published. Following COPE guidelines, any changes to the list of authors (like changing their order or adding/deleting authors) after the initial submission must be confirmed in writing by all authors.

 

Acceptance & Publication Policy

After your manuscript is accepted, we'll send a proof file to the main author. Authors should carefully review the proofs to ensure that all author details, such as names, affiliations, order, contact information, funding, and conflict of interest statements, are accurate. It's important to note that if there are any changes to the author list, all authors must fill out and sign a form authorizing the change.

Online First allows approved articles to be published online before appearing in a journal issue, reducing the time from submission to publication. This journal also gives authors online access to their final article.

 

Definition of research misconduct:

The US Office of Research Integrity defines the following terms about research misconduct:

(a) Fabrication is making up data or results and recording or reporting them.

(b) Falsification is manipulating research materials, equipment, or processes, or changing or omitting data or results such that the research is not accurately represented in the research record.

(c) Plagiarism is the appropriation of another person's ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit.

(d) Research misconduct does not include honest errors or differences of opinion.

 

Plagiarism

We don't allow any kind of plagiarism. If we find strong evidence of plagiarism at any point in the article process, the article might be rejected. However, if we find content plagiarism within an acceptable range (5-30% plagiarism), the author(s) can request to revise their content.

To check for similarity in all submitted manuscripts to IJBWR, we use iThenticate plagiarism detection software.

 

Retraction

The editorial team will consider retracting a publication if there is clear evidence of unreliable data or findings, plagiarism, redundancy or duplicate publication.

 

Complaints and Appeals

If you disagree with a decision made by the Journal of Iranian Journal of Burns and Wound Research, you can appeal by sending an email to the Editor. In the email, provide a detailed response to the comments from the reviewer and editor. The Editor will review the peer review process for your submission. If the decision aligns with editorial criteria, the Editor's rejection decision stands. IJBWR will acknowledge receiving your email at IJBWR.contact@gmail.com within 7 business days. Each manuscript is allowed only one appeal. The Editorial Board Member handling the paper or the Editor-in-Chief will make final decisions on appeals within 4-8 weeks.
In general, an appeal against a rejection decision on a manuscript will only be considered if:
(a) the authors can demonstrate that an error that determined the final decision has been made - by a reviewer or the Editors - during the review
or
(b) if important additional data can be provided
or
(c) if a convincing case of bias in the process can be demonstrated

 

Complaints
Complaints about our processes or publication ethics will in the first instance be handled by the Editor responsible for the journal. If the Editor is the subject of the complaint, please contact our Ethical Editor, IJBWR.contact@gmail.com.

The author will be notified of the outcome by email. If the author wishes to pursue their complaint further, they may contact COPE directly. Information can be found on the COPE website:

Article processing charge (APC)

The Iranian Journal of Burns and Wound Research offers free and open access to its content right after it's published. Starting from January 1, 2024, Iranian authors will be charged a fixed fee called an article-processing charge (APC) for each accepted article. The corresponding author will receive the APC bill upon the editorial acceptance and before publication. This charge covers various publishing services, such as online tools, manuscript processing, connections to abstracting and indexing services, plagiarism checks, and providing a DOI. There are no charges for submitting articles or using color images, aside from the APC.

We will consider waivers or discounts in cases of genuine need. Therefore, authors who are not able to pay the APC, are encouraged to contact the journal by sending an email to IJBWR.contact@gmail.com to explain their reasons. To apply for a waiver please request it after editorial acceptance. A decision on the waiver will usually be made within two working days.

Currently, publication in IJBWR is free of charge for non-Iranian authors, and there are no submission or publication charges. Also, there is no fee for using color images.

Currently, the Iranian Journal of Burns and Wound Research published by Pars Biomedical Publisher does not accept commercial advertising for its periodicals, website, and other forms of communication.
